I recently retired from my post of Head of Geography in a secondary school in Dartford. That concluded my 17 years as a teacher. I went into teaching after spending 20 years as a geophysicist working in the oil exploration industry both here and in America.
I have two grown up sons who both work in education, my eldest is a teacher in Australia.
I have always known the values of a good education and very much wish to still be able to provide some practical input even after my retirement. Working in a secondary school has shown me just how important the work of the primary schools are in preparing students for their later studies as the attitudes and skills installed into them in the early years stay with them throughout their school life.
Therefore I am very happy to be a governor of this school and hope to provide useful service.
