PE and staying active at Home!

Hello everyone! I wanted to make a small section on each year group page to give you a few ideas of staying physical, healthy and active at home. It is so important that we all do our best to try and stay active. Exercise, as many of you probably already know, is so beneficial not just for our physical health but our mental health too and I really want the children (and adults) to keep exercising at home if you can!

We are very lucky that we now have many websites to access a variety of physical activity so I have listed a few of them below in order to help you stay active at home. I will keep adding ideas to the play to help live a healthy lifestyle when I can so stay tuned!

After school sports clubs on zoom!

Unfortunately I am unable to share the link directly on here but please find below the details for some afterschool clubs on zoom - these aren't provided by us but by PASS - a company who we have previously used to support our PE teaching. :)

The links and details will be put on dojo for you!

PE with Joe Wicks!

We all love a bit of Joe Wicks to feel energised in the morning! Joe will be doing his PE sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9 am - I know this may clash with a lot of your children's virtual learning but I am sure you will be able to access these videos afterwards via his youtube channel!

:)  Link to his channel is below. Thank you Joe!

Cosmic Kids Yoga

If you're feeling like you need a bit of calm in your house or maybe just feel like doing some more relaxing exercise then cosmic kids yoga is great to access. The yoga is usually based around different stories or adventures told by the lady that does it and this keeps the children really engaged whilst exercising!

There are also some mindfulness sessions on there which can be good to do if you're child is feeling particularly anxious or worried.

Go Noodle!

Go Noodle is another free website where you can access a range of different physical activities. They have workouts, dance routines, stretching videos, mindfulness videos and also brain exercise videos- a personal favourite of mine featuring Mr Cat Man! (See picture below)

Other favourites are Banana Banana Meatball, I'm still standing and Footloose - if you want to search them when you get on there!

The Famous Mr Cat Man

Don't forget...

how important songs and music are in encouraging us to move. If in doubt - put on your favourite songs and play musical statues - this is guaranteed to get your heart beating faster and also lots of fun!

Here are a list of songs that are also good for getting you moving too! You don't have to use the youtube links - but they're there incase you don't know the songs!

- Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

- One finger, one thumb

- Sleeping little bunnies

- Teddy Bear Teddy Bear Turn Around

- The Hokey Kokey (Or pokey apparently?)

 - The Wheels on the Bus

- If you're Happy and You Know It
