From Tuesday 5th January onwards Mrs McDonald will be teaching the Key Worker and Vulnerable children from the whole of Year 1 in Elephant Classroom and Miss Bailey will be delivering all of the Home/Remote Learning for all of Year 1 via four Live Zoom sessions each day. Therefore, if your child is in school please direct any queries to Mrs McDonald and if you are Home Learning please direct yours to Miss Bailey (we do of course constantly liaise and communicate with each other throughout the day).
Below is the Home/Remote Learning Timetable showing a suggested timetable for you to follow at home, which links to all of the Live Zoom Sessions that Miss Bailey will be delivering. The Government have a minimum expectation of least 3 hours of Home Learning and we are suggesting the following timings for each subject:
9:00am - Phonics = 20 mins (Live Zoom Session)
English* = 45-50 mins
Maths* = 45-50 mins
*11:10am Live Zoom Session for one of the these subjects each day - see timetable below
1:15pm - Topic = 45-50 mins (Live Zoom Session followed by independent activity)
Reading/Spellings = 30 mins
2:50pm - End of Day Story (Live Zoom Session)
As the children have missed so much learning already we are doing our very best to try and support you more at home so please try to attend as many of the Zoom sessions as possible. We will be keeping a register and rewarding children with dojos and prizes for both their attendance and completion of work to help you to encourage them to engage with learning at home as we know how difficult this is.
The Zoom sessions will be short 20 minute sessions to introduce the learning and show the children what we are expecting them to then go and complete independently at home.
All Zoom sessions will have the same link, Meeting ID and Passcode:
Meeting ID: 837 3790 4212
Our planning is in the same place as it normally is and can be found in the sub-pages below (English, Maths and Afternoon (Topic) Planning is available). Please take some time to familiarise yourself with these pages, they will be updated weekly and Miss Bailey be referring to them during her Zooms.
Work can be completed in the children’s green Home Learning Books or on any paper you have home. We are asking that all work completed at home be either photographed and sent via dojo or brought into school when we return.
If you have any questions about any of this please dojo Miss Bailey. I’m sure after a few days, we will get the hang of it but this is new for all of us so we can learn and improve together.
Miss Bailey and Mrs McDonald
