Week 1 - 4th January

Here you will find our documents/PDFs or PowerPoints for Teaching of the Live Zooms and also any follow-up activities that we want the children to complete.

Work can be completed in the children’s green Home Learning Books or on any paper you have home. We are asking that all work completed at home be either photographed and sent via dojo or brought into school when we return.

Tuesday

Please find all resources attached underneath the explanation of the activity.

Phonics - See activities on Phonics Zoom Week 1 pdf. (We will be working through these on the Live Zoom).

Additional Activity: Play game Noodle Nouns on EducationCity.

EducationCity: Primary Teaching Resources and Educational Games

English - We will read and practise this activity on Zoom then children will complete it independently at home.

Miss Haxhiu's Example Poem - click on link below.

> Task 1: Underline all the nouns. Remember a noun is a person, thing or place.

> Task 2: Circle all the adjectives in the poem. Remember an adjective is a describing word.

>Task 3: Replace some of the adjectives with a more exciting adjective using Kid Thesaurus - Search for kid friendly synonyms - Kid ThesaurusKid Thesaurus | Find synonyms that are kid friendly.

>Extension: How can we improve this to make it even better and paint a picture in the reader's head?

**Suggestions: We could add sentence openers to make it clear where the nouns are on the desert island. We could also add in similes to compare the noun to something else e.g. The scorching, sizzling sun as hot as molten lava that has freshly erupted.

Topic - PPA afternoon. Music or P.E Activity.

PE - TROLLS kids dance class with Oti Mabuse

English -

We will start to create a picture plan (pictures and finished piece below, please check for help) on Zoom then children will complete it independently at home.

> Task 1: Discuss and repeat - what is a noun, what is an adjective?

> Task 2: Quickly name the nouns in the series of pictures.

> Task 3: Pick your favourite noun and describe it using two high quality adjectives (not just the first one you think of).

>Task 4: Continue and finish your picture plan after the live Zoom ends. Write your poem, try to illustrate it as there will only be around 6 sentences to write. (pictures and finished piece below, please check for help)

Try to include: stars for adjectives as they are our main focus for the week. Please encourage your child to include verbs and adverbs if you know they are finding this task too easy smiley
