Here you will find our documents/PDFs or PowerPoints for Teaching of the Live Zooms and also any follow-up activities that we want the children to complete.
Work can be completed in the children’s green Home Learning Books or on any paper you have home. We are asking that all work completed at home be either photographed and sent via dojo or brought into school when we return.
Monday
Please find all resources attached underneath the explanation of the activity.
Phonics - See Phonics Monday Zoom. (We will be working through this on the Live Zoom). Discussing other long vowel sounds.
Additional Activity: Phoneme Story Lucy's School Trip - Can the children find an example of each long vowel sound? What diagraph does it use?
English - We will practise the activity on Zoom then children will complete it independently at home.
Task 1: With a red pencil: underline all the nouns. Remember a noun is a person, place or thing.
Task 2: With a green pencil: circle all the adjectives. Remember an adjective is a describing word.
Task 3: And lastly with a blue pencil: draw a square around all of the adverbs. Remember an adverb describes a verb and usually ends in -ly or -ily.
Task 4: Cut out 1st, 2nd and 3rd paragraph pictures. Try and order the story from memory or read through the story again to remind yourself of which picture comes first. Stick in order or draw pictures in order 😊
Extension: Think carefully about the verbs (doing/action words). Do they paint an image in your head or can we choose more exciting verbs?
Topic - Topic Monday Zoom - We will look at the world map together on Zoom (see PPT or World Map Answers). We will explore the map asking questions such as - Which continent do we live on? Which continent is only surrounded by the southern ocean? Which 2 oceans surround Europe?

Tuesday
Phonics - See Phonics Tuesday Zoom PPT. (We will be working through this on the Live Zoom). Revising long vowel sounds - spelling some of these words.
Additional Activity: EducationCity: Primary Teaching Resources and Educational Games Spellings - Long or Short Vowels
English - We will read and practise this activity on Zoom then children will complete it independently at home.
As we have been focusing on Expanded Noun Phrases so far this term, we will be making a few sentences in the story a little more exciting. Remember an expanded noun phrase is a noun that has been described using adjectives.
Task 1: Use a thesaurus to improve and add in adjectives to the boring sentences! (Pick 4 or 5 sentences to improve)

Task 2: Use sentence openers mat to make the sentences sound more exciting.
Task 3: Can you replace any of the verbs (doing words) to make them sound more exciting?

Wednesday
Phonics - See Phonics Wednesday Zoom PPT. Long or short vowel? (We will be working through these on the Live Zoom).
Additional Activity: Long or short vowel PPT. Look at the picture - does it use a long or a short vowel? How might we spell the word?
English - We will start to create a picture plan on Zoom then children will complete it independently at home. Use Monday’s cutting and sticking activity of the Story to help you complete this.
Task 1: To finish picture plan after Zoom finishes. Please use the pictures below/Powerpoint to help for picture plan ideas if stuck.
Task 2: Write the beginning and middle part of story. Children to keep checking back to see if they have capital letters and full stops.

What is a verb? - Looking at the Verb PPT with the children.
Follow-up task: Hot and Spicy Education City Game- Spotting the verb in the sentence.

Maths -
10:00 Zoom Input.
1. Discuss LO with the children- what is symmetry?
2. Work through the symmetry ppt with the children. Key Concept- for a shape to be symmetrical or you to have found a line of symmetry it must look the same from both sides.
3. Discuss the task with the children: Symmetrical Butterflies/ Finding the line of symmetry work sheet.
4. Children to complete these tasks.
Expectations:
All Children: Be able to create a symmetrical butterfly.
Most: To create a symmetrical butterfly and start to explore different lines of symmetry via folding the shapes on the worksheet.
AFTER BREAK
5. Children to continue to complete tasks from before break.
6. If completed children are able to move onto the pattern games linked on Education City, these are simple concept and carry their own explanations at the beginning of the game. This is a small part of the national curriculum which just needs covering.
Expectations:
All will be able to play: What comes next.
Some: Will move onto Need for Bead.
Extension: Associated work sheets.
Topic - R.E
1. Discuss previous learning with the children... What are we currently studying, what can we recall from previous lessons etc.
2. Introduce new learning: Passover, explain that to understand why Jewish people celebrate Passover we need to go back to the Torah and explore one of the stories there.
3. Work through the story of Moses PPT- Higher Order Questioning: Have we heard this story else where? (Christianity/ Bible/ Old testament- reassert the similarities between the Abrahamic faiths). Key Question: What does the story tell us about why Jewish people celebrate Passover?
4. Now look at the Passover PPT, lets look at how they celebrate Passover.
Key Questions to discuss:
When is Passover celebrated? (in the spring)
What is the name of the special service (Seder)
What special item is at the Passover meal? (Seder plate)
What goes on the Seder plate? (five different important foods)
How many cups of wine are drunk? (4)
What else happens during Passover? (Story of Passover is retold, everyone has a special cushion to sit on)
5. Follow on Activity- Children to complete the Seder plate activity.
Expectations:
All: Are able to cut and stick the correct picture onto the Seder plate.
Most: Are able to draw their own items onto the Seder plate.

Phonics -
Present tense verbs- adding ing.
Briefly explain that we will be working through the suffixes and what these are using the Suffixes PPT
Work through the adding an ing PPT with the children.
Follow up task- adding ing crossword.
Maths -
1. Discuss what we mean by positional language. 2. Work through Positional Language and direction PPT with the children. 3. Demonstrate to the children the game we wish for them to use on purple mash (2go) 4. Show them how they can save and print out their completed routes to write on. 5. Expectations:
All children be able to guide a bee-bot through a maze using the controls.
Most children will be able to describe the turns they are making as they do this.
Some will be able to record instructions for getting through their maze.
