Week 5 - 5th July

Monday

Morning: Phonics and Maths

 

In Phonics, we will be re-capping all of the suffixes we have learnt this year and applying it to a variety of games.

-ed       -ment       -ness       -ly        -ful       -less

 

This week we will be doing our Maths SATs papers in school so below are some activities that are linked to Revision and what we will be practising in school.

Afternoon: Transition. Children will  be meeting their new teachers. If you are at home, maybe you can make something to tell your new teacher a little bit about yourself and then give it to them when you come into school!

Thursday

This week we will be re-writing our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk independently. Below is a picture plan your child can adapt and write their own version. Today we will plan the beginning and write the beginning.

 

You can change:

The main characters - Jack could turn into Josie. Jack lived with  his kind mother. Josie could live with her wicked, cunning grandmother!

What grows in your garden instead of a beanstalk? A giant sunflower.

What does Jack get sent to the market to sell? Old, useless cow > your super speedy skateboard.

This week we will be re-writing our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk independently. Below is a picture plan your child can adapt and write their own version. Today we will plan the middle and write the middle.

 

You can change:

Who do you meet when you get to the top? A mysterious wizard.

What do you steal? The wizard's wand!

Afternoon: Guided Reading and Golden Time.

 

Guided Reading: Children can access ActiveLearn: Login (activelearnprimary.co.uk)

 

Golden Time: Children can choose their own activities to do.

Some activities could include:

> Use PurpleMash to make your own tally chart, bar graph or pictogram and collect data for whatever you want!
> Make your own suffix word search or snap game to bring to school to play.

>Design a pop-up book for your own made-up story.
> Illustrate your own Jack and the Beanstalk cartoon storyboard.
> Create another pop-art piece of Art work for a famous footballer that plays for England or the athlete Frederick Afrifa.

Topic - DT for whole week

Children will be creating their very own pop-up/lift the flap book of Jack and the Beanstalk.
