Computing

Our Computing lead is Mrs McDonald. If you have any questions about Computing, please contact her via the school office.

Through our computing curriculum at Brookfield Infant School we aim to give pupils the life-skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new and ever-changing technology in a socially responsible and safe way in order for them to flourish.  Computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners and it is our intention that children have every opportunity available to allow them to achieve this.

Computing lessons are planned using the Purple Mash programmes of study and ideas are linked to our termly topic areas using our curriculum ladders. We ensure progression and coverage in line with the National Curriculum strands of digital literacy, information technology and computer science. E-safety underpins all our Computing lessons and children are given opportunities to explore & respond to ideas of how to keep themselves and others stay safe online. We understand the importance of online safety being a team effort and support our families to play a role in this.

Children at Brookfield Infant School will explore Computing using a wide range of hardware. This equipment has a range of software apps to support & develop their understanding in other areas of the curriculum such as English & Maths. Our intent is that the apps we use support targeted individuals & groups to ensure no pupils are disadvantaged. The Flourish Federation is committed to supporting children’s learning through ICT both in school and at home.

When children leave the Flourish Federation, we expect them to be competent and safe users of ICT with an understanding of how technology works. This will enable them to be part of a society where technologies and trends are rapidly evolving.
