Read Every Day, Talk Every Day
At the Flourish Federation reading is central to our ethos. Red Ted helps get children reading!
Children first meet Red Ted with Miss Smith before starting their home reading journey with him.
When reading at home we have Red Ted inspired rewards to give the children a goal to reach. They do this by collecting a Red Ted stamp each time they read at home. By the time they have earned all of their Red Ted reading rewards good home reading habits have been installed and the children are on the road to reading for pleasure and enjoyment!

100 stamps+ - Book Prize

Year 1 Rewards

Children join RED TED for different reading events throughout the school year. These include The Big Bedtime Read, Down the Rabbit Hole and the Summer Reading Festival. He also challenges the children to different things throughout each term linked to assemblies. This might be to send him a photo of them reading in an unusual place, writing him a letter or telling a story about him!
