Welcome to the Special Educational Needs & Inclusion page at The Flourish Federation.
We believe that every child is unique and deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential within a nurturing and supportive environment and are proud to be a highly inclusive federation where all children are valued as individuals, and where diversity is celebrated.
We recognise that some children may need additional support to help them achieve success — both academically and holistically. Our dedicated team works closely with families, teachers, and external professionals to ensure that every child receives the right support, at the right time, in a way that works for them.
We pride ourselves on our child-centred approach, building strong relationships with pupils and their families so that we can understand their strengths, interests, and any barriers to learning. Using this, we create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, empowering all children to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that stays with them beyond their time at Brookfield Infant and Brookfield Junior Schools.
Our shared vision is that all pupils, regardless of their starting points, should have access to a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum that meets their individual needs. We achieve this by:
- Providing high-quality, inclusive teaching within the classroom
- Offering carefully tailored support through interventions and specialist strategies, founded in evidential practice
- Fostering independence, self-regulation, and emotional wellbeing
- Working closely with professional services
- Working collaboratively with families to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child
We understand that navigating the pathways of additional support and SEND provision can feel overwhelming for families. There can be a lot of information to take in, different processes to follow, and sometimes, uncertainty about what comes next. There is also so much 'knowledge' available in the public domain, that it is hard to decipher what is relevant, what is supportive and what is simply click-bait or representing a (non-specialist) personal opinion.
Please know that you are not alone in this journey - we are here to guide and support you at every stage.
From the moment a concern is raised, whether by yourself, a teacher, or the child themselves, we will listen, advise, and work together exploring the best ways forward. We believe that open and honest communication is key, and we promise to:
- Keep you informed every step of the way, explaining processes in clear and accessible language
- Ensure you feel heard, with regular meetings and opportunities to share your thoughts and concerns
- Work in partnership with you to create, if appropriate, a support plan that reflects your child’s needs and aspirations
- Support you with external referrals, paperwork, and accessing wider services if needed
Our SENCO and Family Liaison Officer work across both schools, ensuring a joined-up approach as children move through our federation. In this regard, we function as a traditional though-school.
Together, we will support your child to achieve, grow in confidence, and thrive in all aspects of school life.
